The Summer Scholars Writers' and Production Camp at Mississippi State University offers a unique opportunity for young creatives to dive into the world of theater and music. The camp has two main tracks: Writers' Camp and the Production Camp.
Before the main Production Camp begins, campers interested in assisting writing the original scrip and music will participate in a one-week Writers' Camp, where they can choose between two exciting tracks:
- Scriptwriting Track: Perfect for aspiring playwrights who want to write the script for an original production.
- Music Writing Track: Designed for budding composers and musicians, where campers will write original music and select pieces to be featured in the original production.
Following Writers' Camp, Production Camp gives campers an immersive two-week experience where they will engage in auditions, rehearsals, and theater classes taught by experienced instructors. Campers will live in a dorm on the MSU campus and will have experience camp counselors working with them throughout the camp. By the end of the program, campers will have the chance to perform in two live productions at McCommas Auditorium on the Mississippi State University campus, showcasing the talents they've developed throughout the camp.
Outside of their creative sessions, students will enjoy their downtime at Mississippi State University’s beautiful campus, supported by a dedicated team of residence staff, ensuring a safe and engaging experience.
Mississippi State University's Summer Scholars Program is funded primarily through camp tuition and is proudly sponsored by the Office of Pre-College and Opportunity Programs in the MSU Division of Access, Opportunities, and Success.
